New Library Opening
Thanks to the support of the Junior League, books through many donations by the Thomas Foundation and many of our staff we now have a fabulous new library. This bespoke library is a tranquil place to kick off your shoes and read your favourite books. Our library has been bejewelled with our designs and decorated by local artisits including our governors and parents. Finally, we have further funds from The Foyle's Foundation to spend on information texts.
Fashion week took place at Colville in February 2012. Every child designed, made costumes and modelled then in our fashion show. Pupils linked their topics, shape in year one and recycling to name just two. Here are some photos shwoing a day in school from 7am
Launch of Le Bistro
Today we launched our restaurant 'Le Bistro'. It was a delightful time and we are incredibly grateful to the parents that supplied napkins, French Tricolours and posters. The flower arrangements created by Fiona's Mum will be used daily and look even more amazing when accompanied by the children's Christmas decorations.
World Champion Futsal Player
Last Friday, Sean Garnier, a world champion Futsal player visited Colville and wowed us with his skills. Take a look at these pictures.
Christmas Decorations 2014
Children marked the start of advent with making a range of decorations that adorned the hall. They really set off the hall for our second Winter Ball.
Sir Malcolm Rifkind visits
Today Sir Malcolm Rifkind visited our school and he met with pupil councillors. During his visit he led an assembly with year five and year six pupils. Some of the questions they asked were probing and impressed our Member of Parliament.
Professional Trumpet Players
A selection of year 6 students went to the Royal Albert Hall to meet brass celebrity Alison Balsom. They attended a free concert given by Alison at the Royal Albert Hall and are now receiving ten weeks of trumpet lessons with a Tri-borough Music Hub specialist. They will also be visited at Colville School by Alison herself next half term for a lesson. They have all been given a special P-trumpet for the duration of this project.
Colville Primary and Thomas's Day School
A joint football afternoon was held at Colville for year five children from both schools and it was a great success. Colville has produced an Olympic Gold medallist. I wonder who will be a World Cup Finalist out of these?
The Brass Ensemble join the Thomas's Orchestra
On Thursday 27th February the Colville's Brass Ensemble performed as part of an orchestra to raise money for charity. They played classics including Eine Kleine Nachtmusik and Pomp and Circumstance.
Fashion Shows take Portobello by storm
Our fashion designs were inspired by clothes from the stone age through to the present day. Parents and press were equally delighted by the shows. See the article in The Chronicle on the front screen.
New Pitch and Specialist PE Teaching
Colville has a new all weather pitch and we love it especially by our PE Teacher, Omar Ellis. Hockey is one of the many sports taught as part of our PE lessons. In addition, dance lessons are taught by a specialist instructor. The school benefits from three halls to teach PE.

Colville is graded Good by Ofsted
Colville school children celebrate our expected good rating. The library provided a fitting backdrop to our celebrations especially as Ofsted noted our Outstanding reading attainment.

Our Parents Celebrate the Community Garden
Layla interviews Nadia about her visit to the Mayor's Palour: Layla: "What did the Mayor's Parlour look like?" Nadia: "It was two, large adjoining rooms with thick, soft carpets and wood panelled walls." Layla: "What did you eat there?" Nadia: "There were lots of little nibbles on trays. I tried a mini fishcake and a leek and cheese tartlet." Layla: "What did you and Fatima do there?" Nadia: "We listened to a long speech about all our local parks, allotments and gardens.then lots of different people were given awards which were mini garden gnomes! We both felt very proud of Colville because we have the only kitchen garden in a primary in the borough."
The Grand Opening
Colville Primary School were led by the Mayor Cllr Charles Williams. The children played samba and sang songs. This was followed by a promenade of guests to the ribbon cutting ceremony and steel pans playing filled the air with joy. Then the Mayor cut the ribbon to a fanfare played by our trumpet players.
Great Fire of London Homework Projects
Our children and parents were rightly proud of the Great Fire of London homework projects. It was really difficult deciding who the winners are. Keep up the great work!
'Portobello Voices' - Book Launch
Year three children provided the back drop to the launch of a new book 'Portobello voices.' The proud and confident children sought out our Mayor and Mayoress for a chat.
Harvest Festival 2013
Children celebrated Harvest Festival by donating food to our chosen local charity, The Salvation Army. They will distribute the food to those in need. In addition, we have begun harvesting the produce we have grown in our kitchen garden including beetroot, courgettes, sweet peas and tomatoes.
New for september 2013
By September 2013 our playground will be transformed with a new pitch, climbing frame in the key stage one and another in the key stage two playground. We are delighted and very excited about our rapidly changing school. Furthermore, the building and refurbishment of our new reception block will provide us with bespoke rooms for art, music and the play centre.
Summer Concert at Notting Hill Community Church
Our children performed a massive range including song, guitars, trumpets, trombones, steel pans and various types of dance. The talent in our school is awesome!
New Reception Classrooms - Getting ready for completion
Colville will have two new Reception classrooms, a specialist music room, community space and playcentre in September 2013. Find out more in the news section on this website. The latest pictures show the plaster boarded downstairs which will be our new Reception class.
'Love your market' - Colville trade on Portobello Road
Did you buy anything from our stall? On Wednesday 16th May Colville Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and some of the year six pupils set up and ran a stall on the market. Henrietta Bell from the Kensington Foundation said "I thought your stall quite wonderful." We agree and the stall raised £277 for the PTA.
New Garden Opens
We are all delighted by our new garden that has opened and was being used today. As you can see from these photos the space is stimulating, bright and inviting. We now have plans to add climbing frames and a new soft-surface pitch to the playground.

World Book Day
Children and staff dressed up at Colville as their favourite book characters.
Year Six - Wetland Centre
Year Six visited the Wetland Centre as part of Science Week on 14th February 2013. They saw a range of animals in their natural habitats.
Royal College of Music launch of Triborough Brass hub
As you can see children from year four to six and our guests from local primary and secondary schools had a great time at this concert. Colville is now at the heart of the new Triborough Music hub and will host the brass ensemble every week. This will enable our trumpet and trombone players to join up and develop their skills.
